FRAM Extra Guard Engine Oil Filter, PH16, Fits Select Dodge and Jeep Vehicles (2024)

Good filter for the casual driver.

For my wifes mini van this filter does just fine. It does a good job keeping Castrol or Valvoline 10W/30 clean for 3000-5000 miles. I have used other filters that clean at least as good but seem to be restrictive. This is keeping price in mind. Probably the best lowercost filter. For about 3-4 times the money a K&N or Mobile1 filter would definately out perform Fram, but is probably a bit of overkill in an engine not built for high performance. For daily driving and work commute, Fram gets the job done.

Jeep Cherokee Oil Filter

Fram Jeep oil filter. Ordered the correct part and read on the Jeep Cherokee website that a PH16 filter can be replaced by a higher volume PH8A filter for the 4.0L inline six engine. The Advance store gratefully allowed an even exchange between the two parts and now I have increased the oil capacity in the truck by .5 quarts which will allow for better lubrication. The PH8A filter was also easier to install, all made possible by the local Advance store accepting the exchange with NO hassle.

Grippy Surface for easy Installation

I have always liked these filters just because of the black grit on the surface, making it easy to put on and take off by hand. The anti-slip surface is great.

Good Filter

I do basic car care for my vehicles. The rubber grip is nice once you remove the filter and oil drips on the outside of the filter, you can still spin it out and hold on to the filter.

Quality Filter at Good Price

I follow a 3,000 mile oil change interval with conventional oil for our 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee. These filters have worked well and are always priced nicely. I like the sure grip feature which makes them easy to tighten by hand.

Works for me.

I've used for years on a used land rover I have with no issues. My mechanic did suggest I switch filters and use other than fram. It works as far as I can see with no issues. I do like the grip on the end.

I trust Fram Extra Guard

I have used Fram in several different vehicles over the years. Had no motor problems with any and usually average 8,000 to 10,000 miles between oil changes with these filters.

Its an oil filter...

It's a Fram oil filter. They rate it as having a service life of 10k miles. I change my oil %26 filter every 3500 per Jeep recommendations. Vehicle is 20years old, so Fram must be good enouh. Reasonably priced at Wally World.
